1. sign language group in the morning
2. creative brick house building for the 3 little pigs in prek
3. time to paint after school

Comedy & Juggling Show

Bright Ideas families had a good laugh Wednesday night.  Miller & Mike put on a great show.  Thanks for joining us!

Hiking at Lapham Peak

The afternoon was spent at Lapham Peak hiking.  Junior Teacher Olivia led a fun game in the woods and we were careful not to let any deer into the butterfly garden.  Some popsicles afterwards made it a great day!

Nature Week

Frog catching at Retzer with Sunset workshop block last week.

Created temporary insect habitats and gave each bug a backstory. Super creative!

Retzer Trip 7/10

Quiet moment at Retzer to listen for and spot flying things.  Kids noticed dragon flies, airplanes, flies, bees, other insects, and birds. 

Then it was time for frog catching!  Clare caught the first one and got good and muddy.  

Pool Noodle Hockey

 Pool noodle beach ball hockey and grocery shopping for a healthy snack all on the same day.  Raising strong and fit kids in Wales today!

Ninjas at the park

After a round of disc golf, Mrs. Fronk transformed the girls into ninjas for a physical challenge.  Well, ninjas with beards and glitter!  It was close, but the older sibling team won (this time).

Starting off summer

Today the Wales Camp went to Nagawaukee to learn how to build campfires.  They left a surprise for the next camper to come by - a fire ready to light!

Yesterday our younger group of rainbows experimented with shaving cream and foam blocks to build.  It did not work quite like mortar but sure was fun!

Pre-K June Family Night

Our pre-k program had a end of year celebration last night.  It was held at Wales Elementary school where many of the children will be attending in the fall or in future years.  Families had the opportunity to play games together and enjoy a pasta dinner.  Each child presented a school picture to their parent before leaving.  It was a joyous and fun time for all!

After some fun on the playground, the kids needed to relax with paint Thursday afternoon at our Wales Elementary after school program.

Outdoor fun

Jakob participated in the soldier boot camp activity today.  BILC was thinking about our service men and women for Memorial Day. 

Brayden used a PVC pipe to help his balance on the playground today.

Jackson and Brady were a hit on the stage Thursday afternoon!

Pre-k took a trip to the Wales Culver's on Thursday.  Each child was responsible for ordering their own meal, paying for it with cash, taking their number to the table, and cleaning up afterwards.  A community member commented to the children about their great manners and good behavior before we left.  What a fun learning experience!!!

Last No School Day of the 2016-17 School Year

An elaborate kitchen & house area was constructed on the playground today.  A group of about 15 kids played here for hours. The creativity and cooperation was amazing!

 Some of the boys designed Lego marble tracks.  Somehow an activity the teachers thought would go for 15 minutes went on for over an hour.  How they love Legos!

 Best part of the day... hiking down a steep hill at Lapham Peak.  The older kids assisted the prek kids to safely make it down. No injuries and no tears - but what a challenge it was!

Piala's Nursery

Pre-K visited Piala's Nursery on a field trip today.  Mrs. Piala showed off the birds, had the group smell a variety of plants, and assisted everyone in planting their own flower to take home.  It was wonderful viewing all the plants in the warm greenhouse on this chilly May day!

Pre-K Yoga

The Bright Ideas Pre-K class took a walking field trip to Yoga 4 All on Monday.  Yogi Ms. Sarah lead the group in learning yoga poses and on mindful relaxation.  She even sent us back with mindful coloring sheets to help our bodies prepare for rest time after lunch.  Thanks Yoga 4 All!

Nagawaukee Park Fun

Nagawaukee Park was a blast on Monday.
BILC kids:

• did yoga in the woods
• hiked
• played in the sand
• playground time
• picnic lunch
• played camouflage
• had an awesome game of capture the flag!

Feet Painting

Mrs. Fronk got a bit crazy with the BILC kids over spring break and had them paint with their feet!  The kids described it as chilly, messy, fun, crazy, and that there is no way their mom would allow them to do it at home!

BILC Box Trolls Stories

Bilc kids spent the day off of school creating their own characters and telling a story about them.  The interesting element was that the character had to be wearing a box!

Our older group then developed a game involving box trolls to play on the field trip.  It was an entertaining day full of strange characters, fun kids, and teamwork!

Art Studio Work

 Busy in the art studio this week at the center with painting and stenciling.

After School Chess

Students at our Wales Campus After School program have been teaching one another chess.  What skill will they work on next???

Dads Are Great!

Thanks for stopping by pre-k this morning Mr. Wolf.  The class had a great time building scooters and using the tools.  We are also glad you taught us how to wear safety equipment and work to avoid injuries. Come back soon!
